In order to follow the ledge, an additional section of footing will need to be added to accommodate the 7’-6” frost wall on the lower end of the footing. Building specifications require that any concrete wall over 7’-6” in height need to be sized at 10” in thickness throughout the entire foundation. By adding this section of additional footing the wall specification can be scaled down to the original spec. of 8”. This will save many unnecessary yards and the related expense of concrete. 8” concrete reinforced with ½” rebar is the standard thickness for residential construction of this type. |
